In 1983 Tony C owner of WHH introduced surface drive to the world of model boaters, though it was used on some full size offshore race boats back then, it was not until the first Enforcer gas boats hit the market that RC Boats were introduced to this type of drive. In 1986 inspired by an aquaintence of Tony, Mr. Don Aronow the man who pioneered the full size drive, Tony designed the original SPD, a product that was originally designed for his Team Enforcer, and ended up becoming one of the best selling drive units of all time. Features simplified adjustment design, very similar to the hydraulic ram used on the full size drives to control the up and down function.. Today the SPD III is still a number one seller for aftermarket gas model boaters and is used on the majority of all factory Enforcer boats in production.
